Surface study of pharma powder

Mesoporous carrier particles are used for enhancing the water-solubility of non-soluble active ingredients and in peroral drug delivery. During this process, the active ingredients bind to the pores and modify the local roughness of the particle.

In order to control the process, the analysis of surface topography is likely necessary. Using the AFM-in-SEM technique, we could easily localise a micron-sized powder particle and evaluate its surface roughness.

Measurement modes: Energy dissipation, Topography

Litescope benefits:

  • Easy navigation to a challenging region of interest
  • Roughness and qualitative hardness measurement on the surface of particle
